Usually when we blog on eNovel the topic is all about ehow, ehow best to manage an indie career and ePromotions, and talking about what works best for us and what does not. But October has thus far been a sensational month for eNovel Authors at Work members. So, I’d like to share a few newsworthy events.
Two of eNovel’s savvy and prolific authors, Donna Fasano and Mimi Barbour teamed with eight other romance writers to produce a boxed set, Ten Christmas Brides. Launched yesterday, the omnibus is already on the ladder of Amazon TOP 100 Paid. USA Today has tagged the omnibus a ‘must read’. Almost 1,000 readers attended the FaceBook Extravaganza yesterday, vying for free books and gift cards offered by authors invited to participate. Book Partners in Crime Promotions organized the event and kept all of us visitors in our time slots–not an easy chore when authors and fans get together. Ten Christmas Brides is 99¢. Here is a neat idea: Amazon gift the set to your friends for stocking stuffers.
eNovel member Marsha Roberts just launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to promote Confessions of a Mutinous Boomer . We are all watching and hoping for Marsha’s Success! Several of us have participated in ThunderClaps for exposure for New Releases or a Cover Reveal, but Indiegogo is about crowdsourcing to raise funds for a project. In the past writers could often apply to the National Endowment of the Arts for funds to finish a ms or hire editors, etc. But! Those funds are rare as hen’s teeth today, so writers appeal to the generosity of the public. Many are successful and their books are published on Amazon.
Julie Frayn, author of Mazie Baby, flew all the way from Western Canada to Dallas for a Revenge of the Indie Book Event at a two day book signing at Cafe Brazil in Richardson, Texas and wouldn’t you know? Julie connected with another eNoveller, Joe B. Parr, author of The Victim, a stunning investigative police procedural. The rest of us are suffering envy that two members got to meet while we are stuck in our lonely writer’s caves. Our members network every day, but always on the Internet and once in a while via Skype. Actually meeting another member face-to-face when we are scattered across four continents and in not less than fifteen time zones is beyond a treat.
Reminder: On the second Wednesday of every month, eNovel Authors are on tour with Book Partners in Crime Promotions. eNovel hosts the tour as well as JackieWeger.com/blog. No Perfect Secret is FREE today through October 27. Betrayed thrice over by her husband, Anna believes her imploded life will right itself if only she buys a dog. Investigator Frank Caburn has other ideas. Man to the bone and manufacturing testosterone like Frito Lay does chips, he is at once attracted to Anna. All he wants is to fall in love and be done with it. Anna Nesmith is the one. But how to tell her without tripping over a layer of lies is beyond him. Adding to Caburn’s woe are his elderly bosses–both of whom who plan to keep their jobs until the Rapture or the sun burns out—whichever comes last–a cross-dressing dominatrix with OCD, a purple haired hacker on parole, and Anna’s back-stabbing mother-in-law. Falling love has never been more difficult!
As usual, I never like to close a post without reminding indie authors you will not have to struggle for reviews if you put this golden gem at the back of your book right after THE END.
Thank you for taking time to read [title]. If you enjoyed it, please consider telling your friends or posting a short review. Word of mouth is an author’s best friend and much appreciated.
‘Til next time!
