“Mimi says – I’ve taken early retirement on Vancouver Island to spend my days and many nights, hovering over my computer and spinning the stories that have been vying for my attention over the years.
My husband is supportive, drags me out to feed me and plans occasional forays into the outside world. I have a son who makes me happy I was born a woman so I could be his mom, and a niece whose family adds to my full cup of happiness.
Gardening lights my inner fires, and I need no urging to get out into the yard when the weather dictates. I do have many hobbies such as stain glass, cross-stitch, quilting, crocheting, but alas – no time.”
Special Agent Kandice:
“Kandi has a way about her that draws people to her; her heart is so big, it’s hard for her to sound like a tough FBI Agent, but she tries. Kandi is well suited to her job as a crisis negotiator. When their office gets a new ASAC, Dan Black, Kandi feels drawn to him and doesn’t really understand why, as Dan seems not to like her from the moment they meet. Dan was supposedly demoted from AD of the Criminal Investigation Division in Washington and sent to this Seattle Branch of the FBI. He had forgotten Kandi was assigned to the same office. Now he’s in trouble! This is really a heartwarming love story with an interesting “cops and robbers” storyline!” ~ reviewed by Susan
Powerful, thrilling and character-driven, this romantic suspense is a real page-turner.
Special Agent indeed, Kandice Warner is everyone’s best friend. Talk about a Barbie doll! This female might have the same pretty-girl looks but even though she has a tender heart, she also has the resilience needed for a very successful FBI Hostage Negotiator. Feelings of inadequacy constantly force her to prove that she’s tough, and she demonstrates her courage when dealing with a murderous bank robber, a desperate jumper, being stalked, kidnapped and beaten. But her tender heart can get her in trouble and she needs to grow a thicker skin. Almost impossible when her obstinate new boss, for reasons of his own, interferes in everything she does.
Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division in Washington, Dan Black is as hard as they come. With the grit of a street youth stiffening his resolve, he’s worked his way up through the ranks, his personal space shields as strong as ever. Until he sees the sweetest things on two legs! A girl from his past. The one he’s never been able to forget. Working undercover in the Seattle bureau, he tries to protect his childhood fantasy but she refuses to stay put or take orders. Faced with a woman like that, what’s a mere man to do?
“Three lovely stories are connected by three adorable puppies abandoned on a cold snowy winter. I couldn’t stop reading and read two stories back to back the same day and the third one the next day. The children characters pull at your heartstring. The romance is sweet and emotional, in spite of some high drama in the background. Thank you Mimi Barbour for these beautiful stories.” ~reviewed by Reader Forever

The perfect beach read!
The first thing I have to say is that I love heroes who have rough edges that need smoothing… by none other than the heroine, of course. Clint is one of those heroes! He’s a rough and tumble cowboy whose heart has hardened. Annie is just the woman to give him what he needs so that he can heal and love again. Right from the beginning, I wanted these two to end up with a happy forever future. The children in the story, Max and Debbie, add a realism and a very touching aspect to the story. I couldn’t help but love them. This is a wonderful, slightly spicy romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. ~reviewed by author, Donna Fasano
